Nicaragua taxis

Taxis in Nicaragua are unmetered, so always ask for the fare before getting into a taxi. Taxi drivers tend to higher their fare for tourists, but are willing to negociate. If you want to make sure you are not getting ripped off, ask locals what you should expect to pay. Almost all taxis in Nicaragua are colectivos, which stop and pick up other clients while taking a possibly circuitous route to your destination.
